Summer event styling needs to work with outdoor conditions: sun, wind, shade and seating. Start with the hospitality layout, then choose colours, materials and focal points that fit the site and the event hours.

The shade available when guests arrive matters more than a morning photo of the venue. Check where people can sit and how they move between drinks, food and activities. Give different hospitality areas clear purposes. Furniture and textiles should also be chosen for comfort and maintenance during the event.
Wind can change whether a backdrop or tall object suits the location. Anchoring and placement must be coordinated with the venue and relevant suppliers. Light and dark surfaces look different in direct sun. Photos taken at the planned event time help evaluate the choices.
An outdoor brief should include what happens if conditions require a different location. Check which focal points can move indoors and which cannot. Access, loading, setup and removal hours affect the proposal. Alternatives need to be agreed with the producer and venue, rather than assumed in advance.
